Just did a movie search on vox for Ginger Snaps out of curiosity and got no results. It's a wonderful(maybe not the best adjective for a horror film) Canadian werewolf movie. Although the whole werewolf thing is really just a metaphor for the change into womanhood, comparing a girl getting her period to turning into a flesh eating hairy monster. I agree, just kidding. Anyway it's a great movie that any horror fan should check out. And if you have already seen it then let me know what you thought.
This is hardly worthy of posting about but I just watched the latest episode of rw/rr challenge. What was Even trying to prove by staying. He was in unbearable pain with a likely chance of permanent damage to his body. Then he goes on to mention that there is a possibility of death but seeing as how death is less likely then him winning he should stay. Come on.
Wes is really the only reason to watch. I'm not sure why they even compete in the challenges, well they really don't. Just put yourself in the exile every week and call it a day.
Laguna Beach can't come back soon enough.
Ari (Jeremy Piven) is a genius. Old news I know, but it had to be said. He continues to play a larger role this season and he consistently delivers the sharpest funniest dialogue on tv.
Queens Bolevard is back after being recut, colorized, and generally massacered for the masses. The studio wants to give it a wide release after the success of Aquaman and cash in on Vince's newfound marketability. Billy the director is furious of course and E and Vince are not particularly happy either. Vince makes everyone aware of this at a press conference calling the studio execs peices of shit, or maybe he calls the new cut of the movie shit, I can't rememver which. Either way there probably not to happy.
Word is out that Ari has got the space and is starting his own major agency. Terence is using his leverage to try and keep this from happening. Ari lets the other agency execs know that he has no intention of going after there clients, only Terence's. Let the war begin. Ari is forced to relinquish 49% of ownership of the new agency to Babb's or else none of his agents will be paid for 6 months. Thus, Gold-Miler is born.
Drama missed the audition but still got a part in an Ed Burns pilot. Good for him.
Turtlle continues to do absolutely nothing interesting. And E does not have a threesome this week.
TBS is so money right now. They are playing Swingers, one of my favorite movies. The Wayne Gretzky videogame scene is classic.
To be honest the first time I went to watch this movie I turned it off. I thought it was stupid and annoying. I gave it another chance and couldn't stop quoting if for weeks, well actually I still quote it. From that day on every member of the opposite sex was refereed to exclusively as beautiful babies.
Well another episode proves I know even less about fashion than I previously thought. Apparently wearing a crumpled gold trash bag for a top and a plain purple skirt constitutes a well made outfit(excuse my ignorance). When they asked the model to turn around, "I bet the profile of this looks great" said the judges. Are you kidding me the profile makes you wonder what shes hiding under there. The entire episode focused on his incompetence only to trick us when he almost wins. And his dog had a little purple collar, how cute and inventive. Happy Birthday indeed.
Kick Angela off already.
I recently read an article regarding a writer's strike on America's Next Top Model. The writers on the show have the usual demands: better pay, insurance, and so on. In addition to that they are also demanding writing credits as opposed to being billed as producers. They argue for the same credit and compensation as writers of television drama and comedy. At first thought most people would say, it's reality tv, they do not really have to write.
This reminded me of an interview I heard awhile back with a television writer who worked mostly in reality tv. He provided an inside look at just how much of reality tv is scripted. Now it's no secret the antics of Paris and Nicole on The Simple Life, are completely contrived. However, the writer doing the interview had worked on shows such as Big Brother and Survivor. In the case of Big Brother he revealed that almost every word out of the host's mouth was written in advance.
I believe that the writers on Top Model have a point. They along with sitcom and drama writers all work on scripted television shows. They should be given writing credit and payed accordingly. As far as I know the writers are still on strike and hopefully they hold out and get what they deserve.
Maybe I should explain my fixation with movies and television. I want to write screenplays. The ability of a person to compose flowing eloquent dialog between characters fascinates me. I believe that being a novelist and a screenwriter are two entirely different talents. I have no research on this topic but I would be very surprised to discover many novelists who successfully cross over to screenwriting and vice versa. I do not have the ability to create an engaging world using relying solely on description. However, I find myself acting out engaging conversations between several characters(sometimes I am one of them) in my head. When inspired I put these conversations on paper and attempt to form something resembling a story. My aspiration is not to become a professional. I just want to finish a screenplay.
This first question that comes to mind, How the fuck does E get so lucky? Average looking guy, decent personality, ends up being the penisula surrounded by two incredibly sexy bodies of water(the best threesome metaphor I could come up with). Not only that, but the more attractive of the two is his girlfriend, who arranged the whole thing in the first place. The only downside to this scenario is that he wasn't allowed to fuck the other girl. Of course, you find out that not only was he disappointed with this stipulation, so was she.
Ari's buying a ridiculously big office space and by virtue of blackmail teaming up with hotshot nemisis Davies. I think he represented Johnny Drama for about a 15 minutes. This plotline looks promising.
After three whole days I have decided to branch out. Limiting this blog to television was a clear discriminatory act against the two other components of my existence, movies and music. This new entertainment triblog should allow for disclosure of my personal life without directly referencing my personal life, if that makes sense.
